UNCC REU Week 1

I have finished moving and I am settled into my new apartment. This past week has been a blast. After taking a tour of all the different labs I started working in my lab, the Game 2 Learn Lab. After being briefed on the rules and expectations we started completing our Institutional Review Board Certification that will allow us to conduct research on human subjects(aka play testing.) I was placed on the team that will help finish a game that has been in progress for a year now and will design and start building(hopefully) an iPhone game. Evie, our Grad Student Mentor, is leading Rachel, Christie and I through 2 practice projects that involves learning the Unity Game Engine and the iPhone SDK. The Dance Tool Game is Evie's project that we are helping to finish and the iPhone app we will design is her idea as well. The App is supposed to be a networking tool/game for the Stars Conference. Everyone has been very hospitable and friendly. I am making many new friends and enjoying parties at different peoples houses. Dr. Barnes, our lab director, comes in the lab to check on us sometimes. She is super cool and has parties at her house from time to time. I can't wait to see what week 2 holds for me!
